Proof-of-Brain

Social Tipping helps your token reach hundreds of millions of users across Web2 platforms like X and Instagram by embedding distribution into a game-like mechanism.

This gamified system is called Proof-of-Brain, first widely implemented by the Steem blockchain (see the Steem Bluepaper for more details).

Community Credit

The weight of each tipping action by a community member is determined by their Credit within the community.

At the time of a community’s creation, the founder initializes the credit system, defining weighting factors and their proportions. The credit model can later be adjusted through a proposal-vote governance process.

By design, curators (anyone who performs tipping through social interaction) with higher credit scores will cause the tipped post to earn more tokens in that day’s distribution. The more credit a curator has, the more tokens they earn as a result of their tipping.

Voting Power (VP)

All forms of social tipping — whether it's liking, replying, or clicking 🔥 — are considered curate.

To prevent abuse of community credit as a voting mechanism for token distribution, TagAI implements a Voting Power (VP) system that limits how frequently a user can curate.

  • Each social tipping action consumes a portion of the user’s VP.

  • To ensure sustainability and fairness, VP regenerates at a rate of 33.33% per day, meaning users cannot tip endlessly and are encouraged to curate more thoughtfully and selectively.

Proof-of-Brain Mechanism

All posts tipped with the same token are aggregated into a shared community page on TagAI. Users can interact with posts (via 🔥, comments, etc.) on either X or the TagAI platform.

During each reward cycle, the Proof-of-Brain algorithm processes tipping data across all posts in the community:

  1. Tokens are distributed into each post’s reward pool based on the tipping activity.

  2. From that pool:

    • 20% of tokens go directly to the post creator.

    • 80% is distributed to all curators of the post, based on the Proof-of-Brain algorithm.

Reward Calculation

Each curation action is assigned a Curation Score,

and the total Curation Score for a post is calculated based on the sum of all interactions.

At the end of each daily reward cycle, the tokens flowing into a post’s reward pool are distributed in proportion to the curation scores.

Token Distribution Summary:

  • 20% to the creator

  • 80% shared by curators, based on:

    • Community credit of the curator

    • Order of interaction (the earlier the curation, the higher the reward multiplier, known as “early mining” bonus)

Curator (🔥) Rewards

Content may have multiple curators. Each curator's reward calculation is determined by their community credit and the order in which they curate content. The earlier you curate the same content, the more rewards you receive based on the "first mining" reward multiplier.

The formula for calculating a curator's curation score is as follows:

The formula used to calculate each curator’s score determines the proportional rewards for each one.

Note: Tokens can only be claimed once they are listed on a decentralized exchange (DEX) — i.e., once they enter external markets (tokens imported from external sources are claimable from the start).
